Thousands of children and families are suffering after a devastating earthquake struck the border of Syria and Türkiye on 6th February 2023, followed by dozens of aftershocks.

UNICEF is moving quickly to respond to the needs of thousands of families and children most impacted by the disaster, particularly cities around northern Syria.

Time is absolutely critical in a situation like this. We urgently need your support to respond to the needs of children. Please make a donation now.

Total number of injuries and deaths keeps increasing. Thousands of homes, schools, hospital and roads are likely to have been destroyed. That the initial earthquake happened so early at 4 in the morning, when many children were fast asleep, made it even more dangerous.

Children are injured, shocked and traumatized. Displaced families who have lost their homes can face temperatures below freezing and snow, which are common at this time of year.
